Robert Anderson first studied art at Saint Francis University and Indiana University in Fort Wayne, Indiana (1988–1991) before building a long, prolific career in the Southwest. A fine art painter with 40 years of experience, he has explored many styles over the decades and is currently focused on palette knife abstract landscapes and a growing series of small abstract works in oil and acrylic. His paintings are about distance—more atmosphere and feeling than a depiction of any specific place.
His artwork has been shown in numerous galleries across the West, notably Adieb Khadoure Fine Art on Canyon Road (Santa Fe, NM), Bader-Melnick Gallery (Vail, CO), and Huntsman Gallery (Aspen, CO). He is currently showing his paintings at
Wilde-Meyer Gallery (Scottsdale and Tucson, AZ) and
222 Contemporary (Santa Fe, NM), as well as independently. Spanning the decades, Robert’s work has appeared in museum collections and many exhibitions, and has been featured in publications including
Southwest Art and
New American Paintings.
