An Important Update

It is with humble gratitude for your support over the last 7 years that we announce the imminent closure of The Carter Payne as a restaurant. As for anyone making a choice to end something they have loved and labored for, this choice is not made lightly. Our last day of operation will be September 1st of 2024, and we invite you to join us in our last month of operation as a restaurant.

We would like to thank our staff for being such an integral part of our success and for helping us to provide so many wonderful experiences to our countless guests over the years. The work of the restaurant is very challenging, and our staff has handled all of it with grace and resilience, and we appreciate them more than we can say.

And you! All of you! You did takeout when you couldn’t dine in, you celebrated birthdays and retirements here, you brought friends and family, and you helped to put us on the map in a lonely little corner of downtown Colorado Springs. You helped us feed our families and ourselves, literally and metaphorically. You wiped our tears and patted our backs and told us to keep going, so we did. And we loved it. And loved you.

At this point the biggest question is most likely ‘What’s next?’ Or ‘Why?’ Or maybe even for some of you who know them well, ‘What are Jeff and Brent going to do?’

Well, we have a lovely surprise, and we’re excited to announce that we are choosing to make a pivot in our business model. A pivot that is necessary, but exciting. Like a prodigal son, we are returning to our home, our roots.

We will become an Event Center!

It is not the end friends, but a rebirth. A new beginning. An exciting opportunity to continue to practice the art of creative food and hospitality. So be sure to join us in the coming weeks, and certainly mark your calendar as we begin to transition towards our pivot- we are going out with a bang and a week of fun during the pivot party the last week of August.
