Y’all have occasionally heard me speak of my time running restaurants for one of the high-end resorts in town. It was many (many!) moons ago, but so many of the people I worked with were exceptional, and have gone on to do amazing things out in the world. One of them, my good friend Kodi Whitehead, is a fellow sommelier, operator of the historic Windsor Hotel in Del Norte, CO, and one of the artisans behind 1874 Distilling. 100% of their spirits are made by their hands on site, and they’re spectacular!
With every dinner we’ve hosted, while we’ve shown off products from amazing producers both near and far, the curators and cocktail wizards have always been our very own. For this special evening, we’re excited to hand over the reins of the beverage-half of the experience to Kodi and his team. The menu and experience design was approached collaboratively. Kodi and the gang are excited to show off three of their whiskeys (their signature Three Grain, Single Barrel Rye, and Single Malt Cottonwood Smoked) as neat pours leading into the entrée course, intentionally crafted by Brent to show them off well. The other courses? They were created by Brent first, and then handed to the distillery team to craft cocktails around featuring some of their other amazing spirits. The whole thing is kicked off with a cocktail hour with some grazing boards and a welcome cocktail, with a chance to meet and chat with the 1874 team before we all sit for dinner.
We’re excited to mix things up a little, and personally, I’m so excited to spend some time on the restaurant floor with Kodi by my side, more than a decade removed from our last time. So grab some friends, grab some tickets and we’ll see you then!
